Great Ways to Pass the Time in Your Diesel Pusher
Loading the family in your diesel pusher and hitting the road? As you already know, a diesel pusher is a great way to see the country but taking children on these trips can sometimes make children restless and impatient. The license plate game - this state to state classic is an excellent way to get everybody’s head on a swivel. Game players attempt to spot a license plate from every state. When playing this game it is often fun to bring a map of the U.S. so game players can color in or cross off the states they see license plates from. Travelers may also find it fun to count other diesel pushers they pass on the road.
Card games - card games are always good for hours of fun as you and your family maneuver from state to state. Whether your family’s preference is Old Maid, Go Fish, War or another classic card game, everybody can join in the fun. These games are often sold as specific decks designed for each game but traditional playing cards can often be used for many of these games. Card games are particularly handy for car rides because they do not require a board or small pieces so there is not as much of a worry that game parts will be lost.
Alphabet Games - there are two kinds of alphabet games, both of which have their appeal. The first type of game consists of selecting a category and participants take turns naming qualifying elements going through the alphabet. For example if the category was foods, the first player may say Apple and the next may say Bread and so on. The other type of alphabet game requires players to find all 26 letters of the alphabet on the various road signs, license plates, billboards and business signs. The first to find all 26 letters wins the game.
I Spy - We all know the phrase “I spy with my little eye.” This is a fun way to get everyone involved as players take turns asking questions and ultimately guessing what the player has spied with their little eye. “Is it alive?” “Does is move?” “Can you eat it?” “It’s a Cloud!”
Moo Cow - Count the cows! This is fun and can also be educational as child practice their numbers. And as you drive your diesel pusher through certain areas of the U.S. your cow numbers with get pretty high!
Another great way to pass the time is to simply read. Books can be read by the individual or to a group so everyone can participate. Also many children love classic games like crossword puzzles, word searches and Sudoku. Fun games and good books lead to fun times and entertained passengers regardless of their ages.
There are countless ways for you and your family to pass the time while driving your diesel pusher from A to B then to C and D and on an on but no matter how you choose to do it the important thing is that you are together as a family.
